Why I Became A Christian

Please read this book. It is extremely easy to read, straightforward, and it will change your life!

I think you can see from my home page that motorcycles are very important to me. Yes, they certainly are. As always, however, there are degrees in life. Motorcycles are not, for example, more important than my family.

And they are not as important as a decision I made years ago that changed my life more significantly any motorcycle ever could.

Many years ago I was a young married man who had started a family and had a great job. I had the things that everyone thinks they need. However, I just knew something was missing. I could feel it, an emptiness, a hollowness that nothing worldly could seem to satisfy.

I had attended a Christian Church during my childhood and youth, but it only seemed like people were going through the motions, and they did not have any deep commitment towards a Godly Life. Nevertheless, I decided to give it another try. My wife and I began to attend a church. It was unlike any other church that I had attended. The people were genuinely friendly, and the pastor actually preached out of the Bible-- not just taking bits and pieces and trying to apply it in some vague way to life. Attending regularly and studying, I realized that a commitment to Jesus Christ was "real" life and provided a pathway of living. Jesus was God, who became man. He walked the earth and felt every emotion and situation that you and I go through. He came to earth as a sacrifice for our sins, and to make the pathway straight for us to God.

That was over twenty five years ago. It was such a joy to watch my children grow up in an atmosphere of God's truth. To go through life knowing where you came from, understanding how you are to live this life, and knowing for certain where you will go when you die is the life that every person is truly looking for.

Please don't try intellectualize the decision or wait until you "get better" or "get ready". You cannot work your way to Heaven, it is impossible. "Membership " in a church or a specific denomination cannot save you. No person can baptize or pray you in to Heaven. It is a personal decision that only you can make. You do not have to be in church, pray right now while your heart is open to the Spirit of God that is speaking to you.

How can you have this life? Romans 3:23 reminds us that "We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." There is no denying this truth. God wants us to confess our sin, ask for forgiveness in Christ, and live our lives for Him. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Pray that prayer right now. Don't wait! None of us knows for certain that we will be living one second from now.

You can never make yourself "good" enough for God's perfect standard. God is Holy and Perfect, He cannot look upon sin. Only the perfect sacrifice of his Son Jesus can pay the price for you and put you in right standing with God.

Pray that prayer, and seek out a Christian Bible Teaching church near to you. Start living for Christ in your daily lives. I guarantee it will be the best decision you ever made. If you make the commitment please email me so that I can share your joy in Christ. Also if you are a Christian brother or sister, please email me with your Good News also!
