HERE ARE SOME OF THE STORIES OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE DRIVEN HUNDREDS OF MILES TO PICK UP THE MOTORCYCLES OF THEIR PAST

Monica G.JPG (485052 bytes) Monica has wanted a classic Japanese motorcycle for a long time.

As Computer Animation Expert, she really appreciated the styling and panache that a bike of this era provides. However,  she didn't know much about them and had to buy one from someone she felt comfortable with and could trust.  Even  though she was several hundred miles away, she came to look.  Here she is headed home with her super cool 1973 Honda CB 175.

.

Glyn, who is from the UK, bought both a Yamaha 200 and a Super 90.  I had them shipped to him in California.  See his note below

Hey David,

John & I connected and the machines are here - and I Love 'em.  They will be ridden a little, then a rebuild to paint & tidy a few things up.  I just had to start the Yam to get that 2 stoke clatter again - the engine really is in good shape for the age - even at the low miles, I thought I would have to do the seals before anything - but its tight. . The Honda I'm going to fettle a little before starting - its a jewel and a demonstration of excellent engineering on a small machine.

Very many thanks David - these machines are genuinely as described & photographed. I will have great times with them - and they will be ridden year round.

Bill WilliamIII.JPG (472738 bytes)

Bill and son William III picking up their prize.  Bill said that "everyone" had a little Honda in his neighborhood when he was growing up in the 1960's.  Bill, a drag racing champion has very fond memories of hill climbs in Oregonia.  His love of small Hondas must have gone through the DNA as he said that William III absolutely would not settle for anything other than this little Honda classic.   Happy riding!

Hi David,

Billy has parked the bike till the weather is nice again, but he did take it to the hill climb in Orgonia to show it off. (They loaded it in the back of the truck) I think they are looking for a tail pipe and other things but it’s nice to see them have a project to do together. Thank you for the happiness you brought to my son! He truly loves the bike.

Barry L 160.JPG (666627 bytes)

Barry L. drove all the way from Toronto Canada to pick up this beauty.  He is a collector of some very exotic and rare bikes including the Honda GB 500 and a very limited production Honda RC 30.  Now  he has added a collectors grade CB 160 to his stable.  I can also tell you that I have never seen someone so precise in his packing.  He bubble wrapped the bike BEFORE he put the tarp on!  Happy Riding Barry.

David,

Thanks for the pics and your hospitality yesterday. I was happy to find the bike as described and appreciate your offer to help with the loading, the the care you took to update the title documentation and that I came with all the loose bits: tool kit, owners manual and NEW!! battery. Great stuff. The trip home and border crossing went well and I was home by 10:00 am. The unloading went a lot quicker than loading at your end and the bike is resting along with the rest of the fleet.

thanks again,

Barry

Suz 50 Pat C..JPG (866306 bytes)

Pat had been looking for a AC 50 Suzuki for over 27 years.  It was his first bike.  Here is a copy of an email I received from him recently:

David:

A couple of years ago, I bought a non-running 1970 Suzuki AC50 from you. It spent entirely too much time collecting dust in three different garages while I fooled with it on rare occasions. Finally, in the last couple of weeks, I made the final push, and yesterday morning, I got it running for the first time. It really brought back memories from the first time I owned an AC50, 36 years ago. Thanks for rescuing this bike and saving it for me. Here is a link to some pictures from 36 years ago, and from your driveway when I picked it up.

MR 50 Chuck Newman.JPG (968114 bytes)

Chuck N. had bought his son a Honda MR 50 in 1974.  He told me that it made for wonderful family entertainment and a very successful racing career.  He saw my MR 50 on the web page and contacted me.   Chuck wanted it but was concerned how to get it to Clearwater, Florida.  I connected him with some shipping options and he selected  a   www.uship.com carrier.  It was picked up on a Wednesday and here you see Chuck sitting on it the very next day!

He and his son are going to restore it to its original condition as a family project.  Another success story.  Enjoy Chuck!

Jim P sitting.JPG (483315 bytes)

Jim P. had almost given up ever finding a Honda CL like the one he grew up on.  He had always lamented selling it when he bought a car. He came all the way from central Minnesota to pick this one up.   I asked him for a sitting picture.  Hopefully he will be able to compare it to an old picture with a similar pose taken at age 14.

Phillip Diane closeup.jpg (466780 bytes)

Phillip and Diane of the Biloxi Mississippi area, drove north and picked up TWO bikes--a Honda CL 175 and a Yamaha RD 200.  Phillip is a long time enthusiast who has owned a number of classic bikes over the years, and knows a great buy when he sees one. We had started an email dialog some time ago as Phillip has a management position on an off shore drilling rig far into the Gulf of Mexico and works a two week shift.  They are great people who made a mini adventure of driving far into Yankee country to pick up the bikes of their dreams.  Phillip and Diane have a safe trip back, and stay on the high ground!
